The Ministry of Health, Wellness, Social Transformstion and the Environment is proud to announce that Paramedic at the Antigua Barbuda Emergency Medical Services, Joanna Otto has been selected to attend the prestigious Optimize OB/Neonate for EMS Education course in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The course, scheduled from August 11 to 17, 2024, will be held alongside the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) Symposium.

The Optimize OB/Neonate course is designed to enhance the skills of EMS professionals in the management of obstetric and neonatal emergencies. This program is recognized internationally for its focus on critical knowledge areas, ensuring that participants are equipped to handle complex cases in the field. The course is being hosted as part of the NAEMSE Symposium, a premier event that brings together EMS educators, practitioners, and leaders from around the world to discuss advancements in prehospital care.

The course will cover a range of topics, including advanced techniques for managing high-risk pregnancies and neonatal emergencies, which are critical for improving maternal and child health outcomes. Upon her return, Joanna will share her new insights and experiences with her colleagues, contributing to the overall enhancement of EMS services in Antigua and Barbuda.
