Infectious Disease Control Centre

The Old Holberton Hospital was recently refurbished in the first quarter of 2020 into an Infectious Disease Control Centre (IDC). The facility is under the management of Dr. Albert Duncan, Medical Director at the Mount St John Medical Centre

The Infectious Disease Control Centre (IDC) was created to isolate, manage and treat patients with infectious diseases such as COVID-19 and was officially handed over on the 27th April, 2020.

The facility is equipped with six high-tech hospital beds and seventeen ICU beds for patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 and require hospitalization. The nurse’s station is fitted with CCTV screen to enable observation of patients. Accommodation of nurses assigned includes amenities such as bedrooms, kitchen, living room and dining room.

The centre is also equipped with a state of the art oxygen room. Five medical consultants assigned, and five house officers.
