The Hanna Thomas Hospital was renamed after the first Hospital built in Barbuda in 1984. Which  was named Spring View Hospital. It was then renamed in 1998 by a committee chaired by Hartford John, after the sole practitioner named Hannah Thomas return in 1900 from studying midwifery at Holberton Hospital.

The Hannah Thomas hospital has been staffed with doctors and nurses of notable mention Dr. Fuller who began by seeing patient every Friday and Nurse Joseph who was the first Nurse to take charge of the running of the hospital.

Dr. Knapp became the resident doctor in 1981 and scheduled other physicians to visit every month in Barbuda. He was also responsible for starting the introduction of Ward Assistants. The first set of Ward Assistants were all local persons to include Ms. Margaret John, Mr. Albert Punter and Ms. Rose Norford.

Currently the hospital is comprised of three (3) doctors, five (5) Registered Nurse and Midwives of which three are local Barbudans and two Cubans. The staff remains dedicated and hard working in keeping the hospital operational.

We have a Community Health and Wellness Centre located on Ginery Street in the heart of the village led by Public Health Nurse, Mrs Jenita Cuffy and Community Nurse assistant, Mrs Leonize Taylor.
