Three ABEMS Supervisors Selected for Advanced Training in the United States

The Ministry of Health, Wellness, Social Transformation, and the Environment is pleased to announce that three Supervisors from the Antigua and Barbuda Emergency Medical Services (EMS) have been selected to participate in the prestigious EMS Instructor Level 1 course in the United States.
Brandon Browne, Critical Care Paramedic, and Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians, Tundea Bruce and Courtney Kellman will undertake this vital training, which is designed to equip emergency medical professionals with advanced teaching methodologies and the latest educational technologies. The course will take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, ahead of their attendance at the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) symposium from August 11th to 17th, 2024.
This training is crucial for the continued development of the ABEMS Academy. As Browne, Bruce, and Kellman bring back cutting-edge knowledge and instructional techniques, they will play a pivotal role in enhancing the Academy’s programs. This will better equip the ABEMS Academy to develop high-caliber emergency medical professionals who can meet international standards in emergency care.
The NAEMSE symposium will further enrich their experience by exposing them to the latest trends, best practices, and innovations in emergency medical education. This comprehensive approach to professional development ensures that they will return with a broader perspective and deeper insights, benefiting both the Academy and the wider healthcare system in Antigua and Barbuda.
The Ministry anticipates significant benefits for the citizens and residents of Antigua and Barbuda as a result of this professional development opportunity. The advanced skills and knowledge that Browne, Bruce, and Kellman will bring back to the island are expected to enhance the training provided at the EMS Academy, ultimately improving the quality of emergency medical care available across the nation.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to investing in the professional development of healthcare workers and maintaining the highest standards of emergency medical services in Antigua and Barbuda
