The Minister of Health, Wellness, Social Transformation, and the Environment, Sir Molwyn Joseph and the Ministry, proudly congratulates the 2024 nursing graduates from the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus.

During the ceremony, held by the School of Health and Behavioural Sciences, thirteen students earned their Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with five achieving First-Class Honours. The Ministry extends special recognition to Ockelia McFarlane, who was named valedictorian for her outstanding academic performance. Alongside McFarlane, the First-Class Honours graduates include Isha Coleman, Heaven Francis, Ifeanyi Ifedi, and Kendra Meade. The Ministry also celebrates the accomplishments of Isha Elvin, Cherayne Isaac, Nikisha Lett, Sierra Philip, Kaylan Phillip, Jamona Samuel, Safiya Smith, and Shanaresa Williams.

Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph, who attended the graduation ceremony in support of the students, expressed his pride in their achievements. “These young professionals have displayed an unwavering commitment to excellence and to the future of healthcare in Antigua and Barbuda. Their success is not only a personal achievement but also a clear demonstration of support for higher learning in our nation. I was honored to attend the graduation and witness firsthand the talent and dedication of our students,” said Minister Joseph. He added, “I would like to commend the government once again for establishing the UWI Five Islands Campus, which allows our students to pursue their studies right here at home, not only in nursing but in other critical areas of development.”

The Minister further emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to expanding healthcare training. “The Ministry will soon undertake a program to recruit more young people to be trained in all critical healthcare services, ensuring that Antigua and Barbuda continues to have skilled professionals across the health sector.”

The Ministry looks forward to welcoming these graduates into the healthcare workforce, where they will play a vital role in improving health services across Antigua and Barbuda.
