Enhancing Indoor Air Quality: A Collaborative Training Initiative for Healthier Workspaces

In February, a group of professionals began a training program to enhance their expertise in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), supported by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). The program ran through March, equipping participants with the knowledge to improve air quality in indoor spaces, promoting healthier work environments.

Over four days of online training, professionals from various institutions, including CBH, the Barbuda Public Health Inspectorate, Mount St. John, the Department of Analytical Services, and APUA, participated in expert-led sessions focused on IAQ and ventilation in healthcare, commercial, and residential buildings.

A key component was an in-country visit by a Public Health Engineer, offering interactive sessions, hands-on demonstrations, and IAQ inspections. The visit began in Barbuda and continued with assessments across government facilities in Antigua, bridging theory with practice.

The training concluded on March 20th, with participants gaining confidence in their enhanced skills. The Ministry of Health thanks PAHO for its support, highlighting the initiative’s lasting impact on IAQ awareness and public health.
