Antigua & Barbuda Diabetes Association Hosts Students’ Health Expo
The Antigua and Barbuda Diabetes Association and it’s partners successfully hosted their 3rd Annual Students’ Health Expo at the National Public Library bringing together approximately 150 students from 6 Primary and Secondary Schools for a day of learning and empowerment.
The expo provided students with fun, interactive opportunities to explore healthy lifestyle practices, engage with health professionals, and increase their understanding of diabetes, prevention of type 2 diabetes and overall healthy lifestyle choices. Students rotated through sessions on exercise, nutrition and diabetes education and gained valuable knowledge to support healthier choices at school, at home, and in their communities.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to principals, students and teachers of the 6 schools in attendance and all partners and collaborators whose contributions made this event possible including the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center, National Public Library, Medical Benefits Scheme, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, National School Meals Programme, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Antigua and Barbuda and Gary Stevens of Sculpt.
