Coronavirus (COVID-19)

COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It’s caused by a virus called coronavirus.

Stay at home if you have coronavirus symptoms

Stay at home if you have either:

  • A High Temperature: this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • A New, Continuous Cough: this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

Do not go to a health center, doctor’s office, pharmacy or hospital. Self-isolate immediately and call 268.462.6843.

Symptoms

Reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death for confirmed COVID-19 disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

These common symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.

– Fever
– Cough
– Shortness of breath

Older Adults/ Senior Citizens / Elders

Adults, 65 years and older, are at higher risk for severe illness. COVID-19 is a new disease and we are learning more about it every day.

If you have a serious underlying medical condition, here is what you can do:

  • Stay home
  • Wash your hands often.
  • Avoid close contact (6 feet, which is about two arm lengths) with people who are sick.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched services.
  • Avoid all cruise travel and non-essential air travel.
  • Call your healthcare professional if you have concerns about COVID-19 and your underlying condition or if you are sick.
