ABEMS ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR CARNIVAL FESTIVITIES 2022

The Antigua Barbuda Emergency Medical Services is announcing a strategic plan ahead of the 2022 Carnival festivities with thousands expected to be on the streets of St. John’s beginning with the T-Shirt Mas on Saturday 23rd July, 2022.

The Management of EMS devised strategy that will allow the Emergency Medical Technicians to be on top of their game to aid in the event of a medical emergency or mass casualty event.

In addition to the general ambulatory service that is offered by the ABEMS, the team has decided to also include a medical post on the compound of ABEMS on University Drive to cater to those persons who need assistance for the carnival season.

With this set up, the Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians will be able to treat persons with minor injuries or persons who may be intoxicated who need medical intervention. This will also aid the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre by minimizing the traffic at the country’s lone hospital.

Members of the public are therefore advised that if they are unable to reach their family members after the carnival events, namely T-Shirt Mas, Carnival Monday and Carnival Tuesday, and they are not able to locate that at SLBMC, that they may try doing so at the ABEMS compound.
