He was then awarded a Medical Oncology scholarship in the same year graduating at the top of his class in 2017.
Dr. Yazigi has been at SLBMC since the year 2018 where he has served as a Medical Oncology and as Lead Medical Oncologist since 2021.
He has written and participated in various published academic studies and continues to expand his academic portfolio. Currently, he is conducting retrospective descriptive studies in the prevalence of multiple cancers in Antigua and Barbuda.
During his time as a lead oncologist at the SLBMC and alongside Sister Condace Phillip and Nurse Amanda St. Romaine they have conducted descriptive analyses on breast cancer in Antigua and Barbuda by describing and characterizing the population of breast cancer patients registered at SLBMC between September 2019 and September 2022. This is a continuation of the previously published stats, published and presented by Sister Condace Phillip and Dr. Nandan Shanbhag in 2019.
In the near future, he wishes to expand these studies to all cancer localizations in SLBMC to continue improving the cancer care system in the country and eventually the region.
Dr. Yazigi is a member of the National Stem Cell Oversight Committee and the National Cervical Cancer Task Force.
