IPCC Delegates Gather in Hangzhou to Review AR7 Drafts and Budget
IPCC delegates are convening in Hangzhou, China (Feb 24-28, 2025) to review key elements of the Seventh Assessment Report (AR7), including draft outlines on climate science, impacts, adaptation, and mitigation. Antigua and Barbuda is represented by Arry Simon from the Department of Environment. Discussions also cover the IPCC Trust Fund budget (2024-2027) and plans for expert meetings.
Small Island Developing States (SIDS) highlight their climate vulnerabilities, advocating for a 1.5°C warming limit, stronger adaptation measures, and recognition of loss and damage. They also call for indigenous knowledge inclusion and increased financial and technical support.
SIDS expect AR7 to provide crucial evidence for urgent climate action, guiding global policies and supporting vulnerable nations.
