As Nurses in Antigua and Barbuda prepare to attend a church service in recognition of Nurses Week 2026, the Ministry of Health joins the nation in recognizing and celebrating our Nurses. Nurses Week 2026 is being observed from May 6–12 under the theme, “The Power of Nurses” and Their Impact on Healthcare.

Minister, Michael Joseph is extending sincere commendations and appreciation to Nurses throughout Antigua and Barbuda for their dedication, sacrifice, and invaluable contribution to the nation’s healthcare system.

 

Minister Joseph notes that although he is newly appointed to the post of Minister of Health, he is no stranger to the healthcare sector, having previously served as Junior Minister within the Ministry and through his professional background as a pharmacist, as well as his service as President of the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross.

Drawing from these experiences, the Minister emphasizes that he fully understands and appreciates the critical role Nurses play in the delivery of healthcare services and in maintaining the health and well-being of the population.

 

“Nurses are the backbone of healthcare delivery. They provide care, comfort, advocacy, and support to patients and families every single day, often under very demanding circumstances. Their commitment, professionalism, and compassion continue to make a tremendous difference in the lives of our people,” Minister Joseph stated.

The Minister further acknowledges the significant impact Nurses have across the hospital, clinics, community health institutions, and other healthcare settings throughout Antigua and Barbuda, noting that their service remains essential to strengthening the nation’s healthcare system.

 

Minister Joseph also expressed his enthusiasm for working closely with Nurses and the wider healthcare community as the Ministry advances initiatives aimed at improving healthcare services and outcomes for all Antiguans and Barbudans.

 

The Ministry extends best wishes to all Nurses for a successful and meaningful Nurses Week 2026 and encourages full participation in the week’s activities and observances. The Ministry once again thanks the nation’s Nurses for their unwavering dedication and continued service to Antigua and Barbuda.
