The Nursing Council

The legal framework under which it operates is the Nurses Registration ACT and Nurses Registration Regulations CAP 296, of the Laws of Antigua and Barbuda.

The Council is comprised of seven (7) members selected under the Act and is headed by a Chairman who is selected from among the members. The current Chairman is the Principal Nursing Officer, Ms. Margaret Smith.

Another key member of the Council is the Registrar who is also elected from among the members. The current Registrar Mrs. Clarissa Christopher, Matron of the Fiennes Institute.

The Chief Medical Officer, who is currently Dr. Rhonda Sealey-Thomas is also a member of the Council selected under the Act.
