Central Board of Health

Central Board of Health is a premier health regulatory agency responsible for Human and Environmental Health, which is mandated by the Public Health Ordinance Cap. 353 of 1956. A major part of the Central Board of Health is the Vector Control Unit, where routine inspections are carried out on a daily basis to reduce/eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites. In addition, inspections are also conducted at food services establishments to ensure that safe and wholesome foods are provided to the general public. Our office is located on Upper Church Street.

MISSION

To improve, preserve, strengthen and protect the health, environment and wellbeing of the people of Antigua and Barbuda. The Department of Environmental Health shall provide direct Environmental Health Leadership, Guidance and Services to the nation of Antigua and Barbuda in the promotion of a sustainable high level of Public Health and Environmental Protection and Management. Knowledge communication, learning and cooperation will be the basis of carrying out this mission under the Ministry of Health.

We see a future in which all the people of Antigua and Barbuda have the opportunity to grow, develop and live in an Environment that is supportive, safe and that promotes the physical, mental and social health of individuals, families, communities and the society
